Letter from an Aspiring Student to the prime minister

Dear Mr Prime Minister,

I just read the concerns that you have expressed about brain drain and the haemorrhage of scientific talent from key technology departments, while addressing the scientists at DRDO. I find it very ironic that your concerns appear at the same time when meritorious talent in the country is up in arms against the very policies of your own government that result in such brain drain.

Much as any one born here would like to serve his country, denying him the opportunity to do so by propagating this ill intended reservation policy would leave him with very little choice but to leave the country. The classic case study would be the state of Tamilnadu, where your esteemed colleague, the finance minister claims that the reservation policy is a success. With a ridiculous 69% reservation in place, the open category students have very little or no chance of giving themselves a good education. While all the cities in the country are protesting against reservation, did anyone wonder why no one in Chennai protested? The answer sir, is alarming. No one is protesting because there are no affected people left in the state to protest. Most forward caste students, fearing loss of opportunities, have already left the state, searching their fortunes elsewhere. Last year, not a single forward caste student took admission in any of the states’ medical colleges. Rich and powerful communities, using their clout in the community based and highly divisive Dravidian politics, have branded themselves as OBC/MBC and have unfairly looted the reservation pie. What little is left of the forward caste’s there suffers in silence, fearing persecution, with no political voice. Their only hope was the central educational institutions and that hope is faind too. If this divisive policy is implemented, what is happening in tamilnadu, will happen to the country. Is this what you want sir, to drive the deserving out their own homelands? This heamorrhage the nation is suffering is self inflicted and if anyone can make a difference, it is you.

Let us make a deal sir. You call off the dreaded reservation system and we the future of the nation pledge to commit our futures to improving the intellectual capacity of the nation. Make it compulsory for all benefactors of IITs, IIMs, AIIMS etc to be drafted into government service for a limited period, specially in spreading the knowledge that they have acquired, specially to the socially downtrodden and help in bridging the intellectual gap. No one will have a problem sir, I assure you. But if you continue with this dreaded policy, not only will some of feel pressured to desert our motherland, but will be forced to carry this divide wherever we are, in schools, at parks, at work places etc etc.

The Story of the Supressed Tamil

40 years of so called Dravidian reform resulting in 69 % reservation has done nothing to help the economically backward. Most landowning rich Dravidian communities(now OBCs) who practised persecution of Dalits, found an easy way to have the cake and eat it too. For the purpose of reservation they used thier clout in Tamilnadu's caste based politics to declare themselves OBC's, continue to oppress the landless dalits and squarely put the blame on FCs, who hardly have a say in anything that happens in Tamilnadu, for their miseries. In Tamilnadu, its the OBC's that "seige" both FCs and Dalits. They outnumber and outmuscle both brahmins and dalits in all state owned institutions. Having tasted the easy meat of reservation in state run institutions, they are hungry for a chunk in the central pie too. From about 30 Castes/communities that were labelled as "Backward" in 1930s, the number of groups have risen to more than 300. That is the "progress" dravidian politics has achieved. If one listens to the acerbic speeches of the Dravidian leaders, you will realize that it isnt very different from what Hitler directed at the Jews. If they actually put their words into action and persecute FCs, there will hardly be any political opposition. The Dravidian parties will cut across party lines and glorify the open plunder, labeling it as the end of bad times and then probably fight over the credit for FC Bashing. FCs, now both vocally and numerically insignificant, out of sheer fear, have systematically started to migrate to other states/countries. Reservation is a Political compulsion specially in Tamilnadu. That is why even a serious reformist like Mr Chidambaram, foreign educated Lawyer from the extremely affluent and cultured Chettiar Community, is forced to tow the majority line. He says that the 69% reservation model implemented in Tamilnadu is a success and the country should take a cue. Of course it was a recipe for the success of political parties, not for the common man. If this is implemented in the national level, every rich community will get itself labelled as OBC and systematically plunder the obvious minority upper castes, dalits and other economically backward sections of the society, who cannot do the same. God save us all on that day....

Emotional showmanship and film stars reproducing their on screen melodrama on election campaigns have always hijacked the real issues in Tamilnadu. That is why you have promises of Colour TVs and Gold “Thaalis(Mangalsutra)” thrown at the people to mask the failure to provide the basics since independence. A film crazy state is ready to glorify lewd dance sequences featuring full bodied scantily clad women, but is instigated to take up cudgels against harmless remarks from former actresses, supposedly hurting their sentiments. You have political leaders like DR Ramadoss seeking the ban of all languages other than Tamil, but quietly sending their own wards to convent schools and medical colleges abroad. His son, Dr Anbumani Ramadass, the present union health minister, is a classic example of their dichotomies. . During the recent assembly elections, he and his party openly decried the previous state regime's action against striking government servants and justified their right to strike, calling them poor helpless government servants who had no option but to strike. They won the election on that very issue. Now , the same Mr Health Minister is condemning your right to strike and threatening to dismiss you guys and recruit new ones. What sort of double standards is this?
All their claims of reservation being a sucess story in Tamilnadu is lopsided, for the people affected cant even voice their opinions, they have literally been crushed into silence.

Please dont let these Jokers repeat what they did in Tamilnadu. At least we could flee to other states....
If it repeats at the national level, meritorious students have no place to flee.

The Reservation Bandwagon is running again, this time leaving no stone unturned to ensure that every single element of that grand Tagore dream is smashed to smithereens. In a so called attempt to promote an inclusive society, we are producing the most divisive one that could ever be imagined. School desks, Cafeteria tables, Reading rooms, peaceful stretches of sprawling lawns and every single aspect of student life are all going to torn apart by this vicious divide.
Here is an attempt to visualise what is in store.

50% reservation established in all indian institutions, both for admissions and further promotions

No of Vacancies --> 100,000
No of reserved vacancies --> 50% of 100,000 = 75000 !!!!
Please excuse, the above calculation will be made by a government official who got in through reservation. since his great great grand father had no access to schools, his great grand father went to school but dropped out because he would get a job thanks to reservationanyway, his grandfather went to college thanks to reservation, completed his 4 year course in 6 years and became a government engineer thanks to reservation, his father became a high ranking administrative officer thanks to reservation, without ever having to write exam. With such a difficult history and upbringing, you cannot expect him to make the above calculation correctly.

Now that you have understood how this 50% is translated into actual numbers we will study the implementation.

Reservation should be extended to Movies and TV serials as well

50 % of all movie and serial casts will be reserved for SC, ST and OBC candidates, who have the option of speaking dialogues in their respective mothertongue if they cannot speak hindi. Also, if they are forced to play the villain's character, they will only take 50% of the punches given by the hero to the villain. If the Bahu is a reserved candidate, the mother-in-law/sister-in-law can use only 50 % of the wicked ideas available for plotting her downfall.


Reservation in sports teams.

Since sports, specially cricket is one of the biggest revenue earners for the country, the team must be subjected to reservation. By applying the redistribution of wealth theory, all brahmins and forward castes enjoyed unfair advantage for acquring knowledge and skill and put it to use to earn wealth unfairly. i.e, because they enjoyed this unfair advantage in the society, they were able to aquire better knowledge,skill and intellect and put it to to good use to earn name and fame. Hence, all such acquisitions have to redistributed. Therefore, all hundreds scored by upper caste brahmins like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and all wickets taken by brahmins like Anil Kumble, occurred only because their forefathers enjoyed an unfair advantage with respect to acquiring skills and therefore these runs and wickets will be deleted from their respective records, divided and then credited to more deserving/ oppressed candidates who will now enjoy the fruits of reservation. Further, the runs scored and wickets taken by all reserved candidates will be multiplied by 2 (applying the 50% factor again) to ensure that they are on a level playing field vis-a-vis general category cricketers.


Reservation in Media

50 % of media jobs specially visual media will be reserved. Any reporter, who is a reservation candidate, will be free to interview politicians/ stars sports persons, etc in the language of his choice. The onus of understanding the question lies with the star being interviewed. However, in the event of the star also belonging to a reserved category, he /she may answer in the language of their choice, irrespective of whether the question is understood or not. Also, in shows like "The Big Fight", orators belonging to the reserved category will be given twice the amount of time to speak vis-a-vis General Category Orators. The volume control on their mikes will be set at double that of mikes of general category orators, to ensure that their so-called "so-far silent voices" can be heard clearly now!

Reservation in Armed Forces

50% of all ranks will be reserved. In an encounter / War, the soldiers from the reserved category will carry a special flag which will indicate their reservation status to the enemy, who will be bound by the new War Reservation treaty and can only fire 50 % of the ammunition that he normally fires at general category soldiers. Also, a reservation candidate has the option of using "Jai Bhim" as his patriotic cry instead of "Jai Hind".

Reservation in call centres

50 % of all call centre employees will be from the reserved category. They will be exempt from night duties. They also have the option of answering the queries from customers in the language of their choice, The onus of understanding the reply again lies with the customer, irrespective of which country/culture he/she belongs.

Reservation in the Judiciary

The next time you hear a Judge pronounce, "Judgement Reserved", please understand that it can carry a whole new meaning and there is only a 50% chance that you get a fair judgement. With the country already having a legal case completion rate of less than 10% thanks to an ever intrusive political system that keeps changing laws to suit its vote bank politics, 50 % of 10% makes it mmmmmmmmmmmm...
We will ask the government official who got in through reservation to do this calculation too, since he is pretty good at it...
